Sytner snaps up North West auto retailer
Penske Automotive, trading as Sytner in the UK, has acquired almost of auto retailer CJ Automotive’s outlets. The deal will mean all but CJ Automotive’s Skoda Warrington retailer and its trade parts operation will transfer to Sytner ownership. In total, it operated 12 franchises across the North West of England and North Wales with an estimated turnover in excess of £200 million.
The acquisition, conducted for an undisclosed sum, sees second-placed Sytner move closer to top-ranked Pendragon when it comes to having the largest turnover of a UK automotive retailer. The deal also sees Sytner grow its business from 129 outlets to 140. And with CJ Automotive originally conceived under Volkswagen’s sponsored retailer programme, representation of the German marque doubles to 12 outlets under Sytner ownership.
