Franchise car dealer group Peter Vardy is ending its partnership with Vauxhall. The six Vauxhall sites will become used car supermarkets under the new brand name Carz.

A statement issued by Peter Vardy said that the new direction – including the rebrand of its existing CarStore locations – would “double the group’s annual used car volumes”.

Chief executive Peter Vardy said: “We were really pleased with our performance in a challenging market. We are committed to reinvesting all surpluses back into the business for future acquisition, property redevelopment and organic growth.

“Our ambition is to become the number one digital automotive retailer in the UK. We have continued to invest in digital software, sales structures and process throughout 2019 to ensure we maintain our competitive advantage.

“We have worked closely with our sister company, Silver Bullet, as a key partner in improving our digital platforms. Our goal is to retail 50% of annual sales via our e-commerce channel by 2025.”

The company will continue to service any Vauxhalls the company has sold.

All Peter Vardy staff at existing Vauxhall sites in Aberdeen, Dalgety Bay, Edinburgh, Kirkcaldy, Motherwell, and Perth will have their roles secured.  The company also expects to create a significant number of new roles.
