Plans have been submitted to South Cambridgeshire District Council to build a new Tesla car dealership in Bar Hill.
A new Tesla car dealership could be built north of Cambridge under new plans that have been submitted to South Cambridgeshire District Council. A planning application has been put forward to build the new showroom for the electric car brand at a business park in Bar Hill.
Bridge House in Saxon Way is proposed to be demolished to make way for the new car showroom and service areas. The new site is proposed to also include 99 car parking spaces, 12 supercharging spaces, and 60 cycle spaces. In planning documents, submitted by the applicant Legal and General (Pension Management) Ltd, it said the plans would offer a “high quality commercial scheme”, and would create new jobs for the area.
It said: “The proposal presents a unique opportunity for Tesla to better serve the Cambridge market given the current lack of available sites within the Cambridge automotive market and the high demand in the area. Tesla service centres provide the opportunity to buy, service and charge electric vehicles and supercharging points. Such centres promote and facilitate the transition towards zero emission vehicles and clearly align with government targets on improvements to air quality and climate change mitigation.”
