Franchised dealer group, Halliwell Jones has submitted plans for a new dealership on a site in Handforth. If successful the new site would replace three existing premises in the town and nearby Wilmslow, in Cheshire.  The retailer believes the current sites are no longer fit for purpose.

The proposed development will occupy a 2.43 hectares vacant site, adjacent to Handforth Dean retail park.  It would  provide a joint BMW & MINI dealership, including servicing and MOT testing within a purpose-built facility. Plans also include a further building for used cars and 483 parking spaces.

The proposed development will secure 133 existing jobs and create approximately 36 new permanent jobs. A decision from Cheshire East Council is expected by 3 April.
