Marshall Motor Holdings plc, one of the leading automotive groups in the UK, have announced the proposed closure of 6 dealerships.

These proposed closures are Honda Mountsorrel, Nissan Boston, Vauxhall Welwyn City, Maserati Oxford, Select Oxford and Citroen Cambridge. Marshall Motor Holdings will be retaining their Citroen authorised repairer status in Cambridge.

The first three dealerships are all in relatively small markets, and within close proximity to other Marshall dealerships of the same franchises. The Maserati and Select car site in Oxford was sub scale and had a high fixed cost base which is not sustainable in the long term. Finally, Citroen Cambridge is the last remaining dealership of that franchise within the Marshall Motor Group.

Daksh Gupta, Chief Executive Officer, commented: “These proposed closures are in line with the Group’s stated strategy of driving class leading returns and will support our 2018 financial aspirations. This decisive action reflects the Board’s focus on tight financial discipline whilst investing in and supporting our businesses.

Over coming weeks we will be engaging with colleagues in these businesses and will be seeking to mitigate the impact where possible.”
